{QUOTE-> In the new version of the ewido security suite, which is scheduled for release early in 2006, malware will also be detected on the basis of its behaviour through the integration of a host-based intrusion prevention system (HIPS). The three-level protection will provide an even higher degree of security. <-QUOTE}

I don't know if this has been posted allready .. but it sure is good news!!

Thanks for the heads up, Infinity.

Ewido is definitely more of a suite now than a simple anti-trojan. But let's hope they can keep the real-time resource/memory usage low.

I wonder if this means a price hike?

A lot of competition in the HIPS market now and the "new" product from DCS is on the way.

I was wondering the same actualy about all this HIPS hype..

I think I will have to choose between some programs on my computer if Ewido will upgrade...

like Processguard, Tiny2005, Appdefend and Ewido in a few months ..

that's the only reason I will not yet jump into the KIS2006 ... Cause everything is allready covered I guess :D

I do not have a prob with the mem/cpu usage of ESS guard, not at all and especialy not for what ESS is doing in the background actualy ; I used once a popupblocker consuming at least the double of ESS ;) so I don't mind to be honest.

there are new payment formulas like a 2 year licence or permanent licence ..

cheers.

Excellent news ;D

Maybe this new version will correct the guard recources issues...

About the new HIPS feature, I hope they make it as an option...

Shortly after Version 3.5 was released Fish25 posted that a upgrade to the guard was coming by years end. This was supposed to be Version 3.6 and it was going to be more configurable and lighter. I don't find it all that heavy on RAM now. I wonder if this is still on track or if its going to be merged with this new version in 2006? I guess only Fish would know and maybe he will bob in and let us know eh? ??? :D

I wonder if there will still be a free version available? That would be nice if there was.

Not RAM, but CPU usage...

I just bought the 2 year renewal at $31,45, the upgrade to 4.0 is free according to the link. One year is $17,95 i believe.

I'm another one who finds ewido's guard CPU usage to high. It also makes my system very sluggish when starting apps - Offline Explorer being a prime example, which takes about 7 or 8 times longer to start with the guard enabled.

Since addressing this was supposedly a high priority for the next release, I have high hopes for the next release of ewido.

Are you trying to translate "types" for Portuguese?

Could someone tell me how do you measure CPU usage of ewido guard?

Sometimes freeze the system, and take much more CPU than my AV when I open some program...

You could use Process Explorer. (http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/ProcessExplorer.html)

I seem to see a lot less CPU usage when using Ewido in real-time as compared to BOClean.

Further, in my limited testing there seems to be a difference in AT CPU usage depending upon the primary AV used.

I hope it will be a free update. Sick of buying the same software every year.

Within your license period, the upgrade up to version 4 will be free. And if you take part in their survey, you also have one-month extra added on to your present license.

With the new features and the Ewido forum coming to Wilders, the future looks very bright! So like Don I have just renewed my license for another 2 years.

Nice screenie - That pretty much answered my question since I got a 2-year license already.
It's all good.

Oh nice, Ewido forum here :) 1 place for nearly all my fav software

{QUOTE-> Three software programmers from Erlangen, Germany, with an average age of 20, launched ewido networks last year with the motto "keep it simple". Their aim was to make their software simple to operate and easy to obtain over the Internet. <-QUOTE}
Smart programmers. Simplicity is always brilliant. That's how you make bestsellers.

It sure does 8) . ewido gents, how soon can we expect your forums going public over here at Wilders? Guess you are going to change your support page on your site as well - pointing to this forum?

I'll second that. I also hope it's an option.

{QUOTE-> Sometimes freeze the system, and take much more CPU than my AV when I open some program... <-QUOTE}
I really don't notice that. But, I guess everyones system is different.

The unlimited license renewal sound like a good deal at $45US with the 10% discount. I suppose that may not cover later versions down the road though??

Jaws

Yep, could be that...

Let we see what the new version will be in this aspect...

Supposedly a new version of ewido will have a "generic" keylogger guard as well as a cookie guard (which will enable the user to selectively retain specific or desired cookies, while deleting all other "tracking/third pary" cookies). Will 4.0 have these features, or will that be released in a future version of ewido further on down the road?
