Arovax isn't really a newcomer. Some of us know it for quiet some time now.

I knew about the AROVAX ANTISPYWARE and it is a good one, but the new Arovax Shield from there talk it like a new generation in the security world !!
what I am wondering about is, this program is replacing what ?? I mean if I install it in my PC I will have a full protection and all what I will need is gust an antivirus ??

Arovax Shield says that it monitors changes to the registry as pertains to startup & autorun items. As such, it is *somewhat* along the lines of WinPatrol, RegRun's Watchdog, Spybot's Teatimer, MJRegistryWatch, & RegDefender.

However, the Arovax support forum did not offer specific information in responding to a question as to exactly WHICH registry items are monitored by Arovax Shield -- see the forum thread HERE (http://forum.arovaxcompany.com/index.php?showtopic=114)

Thus, the level of protection provided by Arovax Shield is presently a mystery. IMHO Arovax Shield is a program to watch, but it is likely that other programs (listed in my first paragraph) presently offer more extensive protection of startup/autorun items. Plus the registry items covered by those other programs are better defined, & more configurable.

How does this product compare to SpywareGuard by Javacool. I mean I have been running Jc's SG for a very long time and I think it's heuristics are topnotch, but compared to AS, the memory usage is slightly on the high side. Seeing as to how I'm on a 4 year old Celeron, any resources saved would be great. So I was wondering if SpywareGuard could be replaced with AS.

But does Arovax Shield actually do anything? It just sounds like a less powerful version of a program like Antihook.

And by anything, I do not mean cookie blocking. I have firefox for that.

No, Arovax Shield is a less intrusive and more user friendly "version" of PrevX.
So, less popups for every time you move the mouse, but in general pretty much similar protection.

I have tried it and I´m not impressed at all, it doesn´t really seem to monitor that much, so I hope it will be improved. It does has a nice GUI though. ::)

Hmm PrevX offers a lot more protection than Arovax the last time I checked.

i think it really good already. but prevx is older and it has had years to improve it product

Let's just say if i made such a post 6-8 months ago, there would be hordes of SG supporters contradicting it. After all javacool's forums are listed here.

The lack of any response now speaks volumes.

People are still using it out of habit I believe, and some misplaced loyalty to Javacool. I'm as big a fan of javacool as most, and I remember his contributions in the early years against spyware were great, but the lengths people go to defend the extremely out of date SG astonishes me.

Particularly now, when there are many products both free and paid that surpass SG by miles.

You might want to revist Prevx1 and check out the latest release v1.1.0.32. It very different to the previous releases and now provide greater control of the query function.

Take a look you might like the latest version.

I am guessing that detox is part of this site and he has good reason to be angry we want real users posting not some advertisement. It's hard enough looking through a bunch of threads for what you need without somebody sounding like their cheerleading for their own product.
