Dual XP Boot on separate hard drives

I have Windows XP installed on a Dell Dimension machine on an 80gb HD , I have made a HD image with Acronis TI8 onto an external HD. What I want to do now is install a second HD on the Dell machine, a 160gb hd, and then copy the image of the fist hard drive onto the second. In the end I want to have two separate bootable instalations of XP one on each hard drive. I have also recently purchased Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0, So is this procedure able to be done using this Acronis software ?? if so are there any reccomendations on how to go about it, All help is appreciated.Thankyou.

The best way to do this is using Acronis True Image to clone the OS from one drive to the other. I assume that TI 8 has the ability to clone a drive.

You can also do this "manually" by reinstalling to the second drive. Here is a description of how someone did it that way (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=110315).

Please be aware that keeping two identical hard drives connected to one PC might cause different boot or drive letter assignment problems. Please also note that these problems are not related to Acronis software but to some Windows peculiarities.

I would recommend you to do the following in order to accomplish your goal:

- Prepare your Windows for transferring using Microsoft System Preparation Tool (sysprep) as it is described in this FAQ article (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/faq.html/#30);
- Create an image of the prepared operating system;
- Restore this image to the second hard drive.
- Make the appropriate changes to your boot.ini file (take a look at this article (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;289022) describing how to edit the boot.ini file).

You can also find the detailed instructions on how to install the second operating system in chapter 8 of Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0 User's Guide (http://download.acronis.com/pdf/DiskDirectorSuite10.0_ug.en.pdf).

Please, without sending me to some other related thread, exactly how am I supposed to achieve this?

I have an IDE with 3 XP Pro SP2 primary (bootable) partitions.

I have used Sysprep to prepare the smallest, and then I used Acronis True Image 9.0 (build 3,567) to create a backup image of the partition (a .tib) file (using the Backup option).

How am I supposed to restore the image to another disk? That option is not provided when I attempt to restore.

I am sorry if I am being thick, but I am getting a bit frustrated by the lack of clear documentation.

My aim is to have a number of separate XP Pro SP2 bootable partitions across 2 disks.

I have Acronis Disk Director 10 (build 2,089)
