I guess Sygate closed the forum but if they did I have a few questions.
The forum I refer to as I understood it was not a "official" Sygate forum and was maintained by individuals who used the Sygate product. Help for Sygate users from other Sygate users. A public forum.

If that assumption was correct by what right would Symantec be able to close it. Or perhaps they are just down haveing to remove the Sygate logo and stuff of that nature that refer to the official product.

Probably boils down to who's paying for it. Has to cost something to run the board...

That actually is the official forum for Sygate users(was hosted by Sygate and official news from Sygate went there etc.) and therefore Symantec would have the right to whatever they would want to do with it. Symantec however mentions they they will still allow forum support accoridng to the EOL and EOS processes:

Important Notice: Effective November 30th, 2005 all Sygate personal firewall products will be discontinued. This does not affect Sygate's Enterprise firewall and endpoint compliance products, which will still be updated and supported.
Former Sygate customers can be assured that Symantec will continue to provide forum support on all Sygate consumer products until further notice. When appropriate, the Symantec Support organization will follow standard EOL and EOS processes. For additional information regarding those policies, please see the link below. For technical assistance, please email:
