New Nod32 test by GEGA-IT

Hi there!

I just saw a new test of Nod32 2.0, written by GEGA-IT / Andreas Marx. Overview:

It tells (in short) that the testers were impressed by the fast scan speed of Nod32 2.0, but not very amused about the fact that it only scan inside ARJ, ZIP and RAR files. ItW detection was 100% on/demand and on/access.

And it says that the problems identified in the last test (PC Welt 03/03) were fixed now. The BAT detection score is now at 100% (last test: 2%) and the full Zoo detection score is now 98,7% (last test: 92,5%).

Looks like Eset is working hard to improve their scanner. However, I can't understand the flame wars in this forum in past...

Eset is no longer protesting, about the 2% BAT virus detection, that proves Andreas was correct. Only after bad publicity, Eset fixes the problem, and now detects 100%.

Actually, the truth is another one. Eset is continuing its own battles "under the hood". In my opinion, public forums are not the best place to untangle such things, there are too many aspects of the story that cannot be discussed in public for legal motives.

just a few questions: Was the whole test wrong or only the BAT virus test? And especially, what was wrong? Only the file extention of the BAT files? And if so, why does Nod32 do not scan renamed files? CMD would be another valid extention for BAT files -- what test results would Nod32 show with this kind of extention? Has Andreas scanned with the option "scan all files" enabled or not?
