Spyware free Download Accelerator

I’m well aware that many Download Accelerator programs are filled with bad stuff, maybe even the majority. Can anyone recommend a good, SIMPLE for even this idiot to use, spyware free program? To be used primarily for downloading images, pics, updates and other software. 4 year old pc with Win98, IE6.
