Yup..I know what you mean..borrowed my sister's comb once to get the briars and Ticks out of the dog..figured she did not need all those teeth in the comb in any case..the dog was happy..and Mom even found then a use for her hair brush. ;) She reformatted my hard drive with just a few stroke.
:'(
After that dog and I decided to go anywhere we please and live with it since there was no reason to worry about the "short and curlies". ;D

Like Primy ... I'll go any where any time. I'm a pretty risky user ... in that I'll try anything. But of course there's always an escape hatch. :lurking:
Nothing like living in a "Virtual World" (literally) :P 8)
I'm always Secure 'n Safe :lurking: - and still haven't been infected (other than on purpose - but then again; did it really happen?) :-\ :P 8)
@ maddawgz - There is always a safer way to be , running reckless without a plan isn't the smartest idea. ;)

Hmm....Many types of PC users:
1)The Guardians - Always keep PC secured with maximum ATs and AVs and FWs and AS and other such security software. These are cautious surfers and usually avoid ActiveX.
2)The Reckless - They keep installing and uninstalling, experimenting here and there, taking chances at times. :D
3)The Assured - These normally have just one AV, possibly backed up by an AT and FW. They feel assured in their security, and go through their normal Internet routine.
I hope I did the classification right......:-\

You missed one.
4) The Down Right Suicidal Imbicilic.
This was me two years ago when i first got the internet, (cant believe it now, and seems strange it was only two years ago) but i browsed the net on dial up paying by the minute (extortion!). Went non stop to Free pornography, Warez and Crack sites. And had absolutley no Antivirus installed what so ever (didnt know the internet even had viruses on it, i thought how can a virus be on a web site), no firewall (didnt even know what one was) no spyware protection (did not know what this Spyware thing, was either). Used Internet Explorer (did not know anything else existed). And eventully one day went to a crack site, then my machine froze, then on the next reboot it wouldnt work at all. Took my machine into PC world and apparently a virus has knackerd my one month old Hard Drive and motherboard (to this day i wish i knew what this virus was as its writer must be as gifted as he is slimey). But PC world replaced them all as it was only a month after buying my machine.
Then obviously got slightly paranoid and got Symentec AV 8 from my University (Dreadful product). Still used I.E, still went to Dodgy sites. Then accumilated a International Calling premium rate dialler (i am thinking now it was most likely a trojan). As this thing phoned up every single third world country under the sun. Got my Phone Bill and it was £300, Was shocked as i did not even know what a dialler was. Symentic 8 just would not find anything on its scans. So did a full format to get rid of it. Then got another Premium rate one this time (but thankfully was on broadband at this time). And Symentec just let this rubbish once again on my machine.
Started reading up on security and enjoyed reading about it and switched to Firefox and Mcafee Enterprise 8 (that my university now used too). And so far not one other drastic infection. (But when i had done scans with Panda Online it always found a bunch of trojans on the machine but have not noticed anything wrong when cleaning them). So switched to Kaspersky and am glad i did.
Just a bit of History lesson there, but the one good thing about SP2 is it pesters you like crazy if you do not have a Antivius installed.
