Hi to everybody.
I had discovered this forum a few weeks ago.
I am not expert with personal computer but I am very interested in security.
Reading your posts I have discovered a lot of interesting things and maybe I am not still newbie in security.
I am using Sygate Personal Firewall since 2 years (and it’s ok) but I am looking for something new. Why? I am only looking around, but… (I don’t like Symantec!!!).
I am looking for a firewall that have:
- simple to use
- low resources
- a good protection
What do you think about these one and which one can you suggest me?
- NETVDA SAFETY.NET (free)
- COMODO PERSONAL FIREWALL (free)
- FILSECLAB PERSONAL FIREWALL (free)
- R-FIREWALL (free)
- SOFPERFECT PERSONAL FIREWALL (free)
- SENSIVE GUARD (free)
- BLACKICE PC PROTECTION
- THE SHIELD FIREWALL
- PRISMA FIREWALL
- SECUREUP PERSONAL FIREWALL
Thank you in advanced for the attention and for helping me.

Hi,
You live in China?
I haven't tried too many of those. I would suggest you stay with Sygate. It's a solid firewall, with very good rules. The newest version, regardless of the purchasing by Symantec, will probably last you a good long time.
Not much of a help, I guess, but still . . .

- NETVDA SAFETY.NET (free)
Very configurable, doesn't have a great GUI, very very low resources, and good protection...
- COMODO PERSONAL FIREWALL (free)
Good GUI, but I the rest nothing special...
- FILSECLAB PERSONAL FIREWALL (free)
Very good GUI, but use some CPU resources, have problems with some programs that use transparent proxy...
- SENSIVE GUARD (free)
Very nice, but still need improvements...
ps: sorry for my bad english but I live where pizza was born

Great great great help. Thanks to everybody
JETICO is a great fw, but maybe it's too difficult for me with all that rules.
Sorry that COMODO is not so good (any other opinion about this firewall?); the GUI it's fantastic (but i don't choose a fw for that!)
My choose it will be between:
NETVEDA
COMODO
FILSECLAB
R-FIREWALL (no one have something to say about this fw)
THE SHIELD FIREWALL (no one have something to say about this fw)

What exactly were you wanting to test? You can find a list of online scans in this post: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=6341
Information on leaktests here: http://www.firewallleaktester.com/.

Interesting, but that looks identical to Securepoint Personal Firewall. Take a look here, further down the page:
http://www.securepoint.cc/products_pcfirewall_en.html
I suspect they are one and the same, just under a different name perhaps.. Securepoint was pretty nice but had some bugs if I remember right..

If you are on a fast internet connection and fast pc w high memory RAM use Zone Alarm (free or paid) but it you're in a slow dial up connection better use Filseclab Pro 3 firewall. I am now using Filseclab Pro 3 firewall, it's light on resources and easy to configure, no problem using it. Just add some other protective softwares like ProcessGuard, WinPatrol, Arovax Shield etc..to monitor any registry changes in your pc. 8)
