A very nice firewall addon (tooleaky etc. will not pass trhough it for example):

{QUOTE-> monitor application and registry activity

System Safety Monitor is a system monitoring tool with additional application firewalling. You can keep a list of trusted applications and be alerted each time a program, that is not on your trusted list, is executed. The optional black-list allows you to specify programs that will be prevented from running. You can also have System Safety Monitor alert you whenever a new start-up key is added to the registry. This allows you to prevent software from installing itself as an auto-start item in the registry without your knowledge. The included logging feature enables you to view a log of all changes that have been made to the registry <-QUOTE}

Anyone interested can grab a copy over here:

Sceenshots included.

Hi Paul, can you clarify for me please? You said firewall addon. Does this mean it will work with my present firewall (zone alarm, free version 2.6.362) or am I WAY OFF BASE here? TIA

Yes it will

As Time Out stated: it will.

Actually, it's kind of a sandbox idea; works independent from especially firewalls, and can be used as a stand alone app as well, regardless if a firewall has in installed or not.

Since it takes care of TooLeaky etc. I considered it a nice firewall addon in the first place; that's why it has been posted on this particular forum.

(btw: the version number is actually v1.8.4).

snowman,

your latest emails have been received; thanks for this post.

{QUOTE-> ..but would like to respectfully suggest to anyone that has never used any kind of system monitoring tool to be carefull not to blacklist Kernel32.dll. <-QUOTE}

Sound advice. Blacklisting should only be done after examination; otherwise a system can be turned into a real havoc.
