Hi

How well does File Checker monitor an install of new software?
I mean will it detect which files have been added or changed during an
install of some software in case you have a problem and are trying to troubleshoot it?

Thank You

Hi controler,

If you are monitoring those files you will be alerted to changes/deletes.
Adding of files will go undetected I think.

Any modifications made to files you have in your FileChecker watchlist will be detected. :)

FileChecker cannot currently detect the additions of new files - it is not an installation monitor. However one great free program that comes to mind is InCTRL 5 - I use it all the time for monitoring what changes spyware makes when it installs.

Thanks Javacool

I have used InCTRL 5 before but I don't think it is suppose to work on XP.

I am trying a program called InstallWatch Pro right now.

The reason Is I am trying to figure out why after installing Kaspersky's
Antihacker, I can no longer connect to the internet. I have set all the options to allow ect and I can never renew my dynamic IP.
Working with Kaspersky now to se if we can figure it out. I am sure reformatting will work but I would like to figure it out without reformatting

I haven't had any problems running InCTRL 5 here on Windows XP. :)

Although I may have to give that InstallWatch Pro program a try - the interface certainly looks appealing.

If anyone is wondering where to get it, I think this would be the right link for Install Watch Pro: http://www.epsilonsquared.com/ I've been meaning to test that thing ever since I first heard of it from Antdude, but I ... well, haven't yet done so. ;D

I like the saving options of Install watch Pro. I save to Web page
easy to view.
So far it doesn't miss anything..
even watches the System Volume Information files.
I like that. Watches the registry every good.

I want to say I am sorry Javacool for this thread getting so long.

I love and use your software ;D
