View Full Version : OS Selector and hibernated Windows XP

Hi everyone!

I recently noticed something strange with OSS on my notebook:

OSS creates a new operating system entry for a hibernated WinXP AND automatically makes the new entry the default to boot.
The new entry sometimes does not boot (missing NTLDR and/or Hal.dll etc.), sometimes DOES boot. In the earlier case I checked the boot.ini from OSS and IT WAS EMPTY (very strange).
The original WinXP entry usually works however, I just need to make that the default again, which is rather inconvenient, because this way anybody who is not a computer geek enough to fix this, would not be able to boot the system in this case.
What is going on with this? Have anybody else seen similar behaviour?
Any ideas how to fix it?

Thanks.

Hello Eclipse,

I have received an answer from our Development team regarding this issue. When Windows wakes up from the hibernated state OS Selector is not involved into this process (Windows boots omitting the OS Selector). If the above doesn't help please do the following:

Could you please download Acronis Report utility available at http://www.acronis.com/files/support/AcronisReport.exe and run it, create a report and send it to us? This would provide us with detailed information on the hard disk partition structure.

Please collect the information requested above and contact us from our web-site: http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/support/ . Please don't forget to send the link to this thread along with gathered information. This would allow us to investigate the problem and help you with the solution.

Thank you.
