Hi
I've been asked for help setting up a network which will be used in a local community centre; although I haven't decided exactly what's going in yet (I've got to do an appraisal of the place) I envisage a Win Server 2003 with XP pro workstations, together with some form of NAS as a backup.
The system will not be run by experts - there will not be a permanent IT staff presence, and I've no doubt that like every other system in the world, it will die on it's backside sometime because of errors/ power outages/ virus etc, and I therefore want to create backups of the system.
For speed, I want to use RAID 5 on the server/s - which software is going to allow me to create the best backups here? I've used Ghost before in non-server environments, but am looking towards the Acronis software because it seems that it is better at coping with RAID.
Will True Image copy a RAID set to a single disk (for instance on a NAS) and then if required restore the information back to a RAID array?
Are the licences per server?
It's all a bit up in the air now, but I'd like to do the following:
Once a month do a full backup which is to be archived, regardless of everything else (I'll go in and manage this)
Have regular scheduled backups using differential, which can then be used as the main means of recovery.
The organisation is a charity, so cost is obviously an issue, and I need to make sure that it works without much (if any) user-intervention
Thanks in advance.
