The quote below is from Noahdfear, the author/developer of smitRem.

-{ Quote: "
I was contacted 2 days ago about an internet user by the name of pcbutts1, that is not only hosting smitRem without permission, but has also replaced my name in the tool with his, and claims it is his own work. The version he was working with at the time was 2.2, and he was careless in his attempt to replace my name everywhere it occurred. When called on it, he updated to version 2.7 and again, failed to remove all references to noahdfear. After I pointed that out and requested he remove the file from his database, he again went through the tool and this time managed to replace my name at all occurrences, and maintains it is his work. He did however, fail to remove reference to Miekiemoes and Atribune in the tool, but instead replaced my name at that occurrence also, making it appear he collaborated with them in it's creation.

This user is also hosting downloads for Spybot S&D, Ad-aware, Ewido and HijackThis, as well as several other tools he claims to have created, without permission from any of the vendors. He's posting on Usenet groups and PCBanter, sometimes with abusive content also, and all of these go against the Usenet terms of service. With the help of those that notified me, I am filing a formal complaint to his ISP, Interland, in hopes of severing his internet service. Interland has responded that other vendors of unauthorized hosting by pcbutts1 need to also file a formal complaint for anything to be done about it.

If anyone knows anyone personally associated with any of these apps, please alert them and urge them to file. " }-
