View Full Version : NOD32 v.2.0 won't scan boot sector

I just installed v. 2.0, and everything went off without a hitch, EXCEPT that when I do a scan, I get the following message: "Error occurred while scanning MBR sector of the .1 physical disk. Error reading sector."

I never had that problem with v. 1.x. However, I ran CHKDISK to see if the problem was with my hard drive, and found nothing. Have noticed no other effects to indicate that the drive itself is damaged.

Could this be a bug with v. 2.0? I am a devoted fan of NOD32, and in no way mean to complain.

Are you logged in as an administrator? (if applicable) Standard-users aren't allowed to I think. Any software that might lock the drive somehow/for some reason?

Thanks Anders,

I uninstalled NOD32, rebooted, closed all the other memory-resident programs, and reinstalled. Now things mostly work OK, although there was one time when the MBR still didn't scan. Having just rebooted again, everything seems to be fine (fingers crossed).

I've been using computers, off and on, for 22 years, and the bastards are still a mystery to me!!!

Thanks for your help.

The msg "Error occurred while scanning MBR sector of the .1 physical disk. Error reading sector." seems to happen if you use a different MBR format, e.g. use a bootmanager. Maybe NOD does not recognize the non-standard format.

Are you using a bootmanager?
