Is it better to create full disc images using the Rescue CD, or from running T.I. from withing Windows ? Is one way more error prone, or faster, etc.?

Anyone have an answer? And also, is recovery of your image more reliable with the rescue cd, or with using T.I. from within windows?

I Have heard that it doesn't matter how you create Your Backup Images whether is windows or Rescue CD, They Say Creating A Image within Windows uses some sort of snapsot technology So It can create the image from within windows But restoring within windows is not possible iof restoring the active partition

Each To Their own preferences though how they do the procedure

I Feel more secure Using the true Image 8.0.937 (Is The Most Stable)

I Use The Rescue CD To Create Backup Images And Restore Images, Works Perfect Everytime, Never Had any problems As Of yet, Have been using the Rescue CD Since Version 6

Using the rescue CD And not installing To use within windows is one less program to cause windows problems or errors and less resources used

Many users use the windows version without any problems though and many users use The Rescue CD Without any problems also

But I Wouldn't trust True Image 9 To Save your from a disater as version 9 has many bugs or problems (maybe in the future it will be ok.)

Good Luck On Your choice

I would also like to try using the rescue cd to create images, and to restore them as you said it has always worked ok that way for you. Let me get this part correct....the only way to create the rescue cd in the first place is to download the T.I. program on the computer, and then create the restore cd? Then, to do it your way, I would need to go back and delete the T.I. program off the computer, and just use the rescue cd to create and restore images? Is there any way ( or Acronis, can you make a way ) to just download a rescue cd from your registered products page on the Acronis site so that people don't have to go through all this if they just want to use the rescue cd for all image creations and restores?

Hello thebigdintx,

Thank you for your interest in Acronis Disk Backup Software (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/).

1. There is no essential difference between creating the image from under Windows and when booted from Bootable Rescue CD. Please take a look at the following article (http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/company/inpress/2003/01-ctr-disk-imaging.html) describing the issue.

2. Yes, you can use only Bootable Rescue CD without having the application installed under Windows, but please be aware that you will not be able to explore images, view logs and use some other capabilities of the program which are available only when Acronis True Image is running from under Windows.

3. In case you do not want to install the application, but want to use Bootabe Rescue CD, please create an account (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/registration/), then log in (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/) and submit a request for technical support (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/support/) describing the issue and containing the information confirming your purchase of Acronis software (order number, e-mail, where did you purchase our product, etc.) We will certainly provide you with the solution.

Thank you.
