We've burried it. (too) many registered users have been abusing the smite feature in our opinion. Apart from that, we've come to the conclusion "awards" is a much more positive incentive to post. "Punishment" (smites) are often undeserved, and are witholding members from posting as well.
Thus: smites are ditched. From now on, we just applaud good posts - you've just deserved one ;).

I must admit I've never quite understood how some people took it so seriously when they got a "smite" but I also think this is a wise decision. I only used the smite 3-5 times before and always on someone who started with personal attacks, etc on the board... But I saw them flying around here and there with much less reason as well.
Maybe we could give Jack in the Box Tacos instead of smites.

I totally agree with Paul. The smite button could even affect to ones opinions when asked personal ones. Now on it is better to say out loud if you disagree - hiding behind "smite button" did not give a smart picture of members, and further more if someone kept getting smites rapidly, it had nothing to do with internet security and privacy.
( Did it affect to my opinions too ::) ? no, I don´t think so, I was more like amused ;D )

About time the change was made. Served no good purpose. I saw something yesterday I think it was (perhaps later edited out since I didn't see it later) that made clear what some people were doing with the smites for childish reasons IMO. Although I believe that the person who complained of it was guilty of doing the exact same thing to others. :D
