Basically going on in my backyard,
http://www.cnn.com/2005/HEALTH/10/05/toronto.illness.ap/index.html
As the article says, all here are reminded of the nightmare that was SARS that killed 44 people here in the Toronto area just a few years ago... :'(
I hope they get a handle on this soon...

I know this is scary snowbound. But try not to ever panic.
Keep your immune system healthy (many ways to do that)...and You
Will be fine !!! http://img118.exs.cx/img118/1691/hug8ok.gif

Could be some variant of whooping-cough (Bordetella pertussis)
I did catch one of those variants in Peru and had a SARS-like experience.
Keep the immune system up and running, like Nat says.
Biggest problem is the rapid gain of multi-drug resistance those
virusses seem to get.

The heaviest toll is always exacted on the elderly and the very young in these situations....
Weakened immune systems and overall poor health are no match for these insidious new strains of virus and or bacteria.

Whew!!! Being at the Pacific Coast - no worries for now. :o However, is this illness not something that is spreading in a Retirement facility? Surely, you gentlemen are still in your own homes. ??? Anyway, please take care and stay safe avoiding this disease.

Snowbound, it appears I'm in your backyard as well ;)
Triple Helix, have you heard of the University of Ontario Information Technology in Oshawa? It's one of my choices to attend after High School ;)
Anyways, it seems this is a similar SARS scenario, but it seems to be more contained than SARS.

Thanks Ron, they said it was not contagious in the announcement but spreads environmentally which would be consistent with your link.
